Celebrating National Apple Day Sunday 21st September
To celebrate National Apple Day, the staff and volunteers at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre are hosting an Autumn Apple Day on Sunday 21st October. The popular event has been well attended in previous years and is back to celebrate all things apple!
Join the Grow Cook Learn team, enjoy the local cider on offer and check out their cookery demos, making apple jelly and toffee apples.
Bring your apples to be identified and join in the cookery demos for skills to take home. With something for all the family to enjoy, the kids can join in too with apple crafts: make Autumn leaf apple suncatchers, see how long a peeling you can get and what letter it will be, make a Gruffalo crumble, shrunken heads and many more!
Explore with Tusker’s Timeline Trail and the Onny Meadows Orienteering will take you down in to the orchard, pick some apples for yourself and feel inspired to cook with them at home.
Take a break in the licensed café, grab a cider or an apple juice and check out the apple delights made by the award winning café team. Also available will be the usual tasty menu with hot dishes of the day, children’s choices, sandwiches, toasties, jacket potatoes and more. Eat in, eat out or takeaway, perfect for a picnic at Kingfisher Corner by the orchard!
Entry to the Discovery Centre and Onny Meadows is free but there is a charge for visitors to enjoy our Shropshire Hills Through Time exhibition and visit our mammoth.
